Winona Ryder professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by her parents in honor of the town in which she was raised. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the youngest sister of Uria and also has half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was only seven her family moved from Mendocino County, California. Mendocino County California. They had no electricity. Television books was her only source of entertainment to keep her busy and she became an avid reader. Ryder, then 12, attended the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in the year 1983. She landed her debut role on the big screen in the year 1986 when she was 15 years older. Ryder was bullied at her high school. Her acting career, she hoped to help, could have helped her. But, unfortunately, that didn't come to pass. Her dream was pursued. Her big break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was a star in several films. There were two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
